Branch
Program Branch allows users to define custom survival models graphically in order to estimate survival-related parameters. The program automatically generates the likelihood equation from the diagram, relieving the user of the burden of manual coding. The likelihood, along with the corresponding observed data, is then used to automatically estimate the parameters of interest.
With the advances in tagging technology, it is possible to create much more complex mark-recapture models than was possible in the past. Studies are being conducted in which populations diverge in different paths, and sometimes merge again to the same path. Estimating survival-related parameters for these studies requires much more complex models than before. Branch is designed to assist in the analysis of this new generation of studies.
